Am I lucky to have had my first children’s book written and published in less than a year?  Am I lucky to have had my first book signing during Black History Month when there is so much talk about diversity in Hollywood #Oscarssowhite?   Am I lucky to be promoting my book as a diversity book at a time when conversations about cultural/ethnic acknowledgement and acceptance is still at the forefront of many subgroups in our world?

Some would say,  “It’s luck.”  Some would say, “The stars are aligned.”  Some would say, “It is your time.” All of that could be true but I say the relevance of this book now a piece of history, lies in the fact that God decided that at this time he would give me favor. My spirit resides in a place of thankfulness…gratefulness; a state of awe at the awesome mercy God has bestowed upon my life.   He has decided that he will reward me at this time, not because of my works, but because of his love, mercy, and goodness towards me.  Is that luck?  Well, if it is, I accept my “lucky shot” with sincere gratitude.
I was blessed to have cherished family and friends present at my book signing, to share the gift and support my vision.   The book represents the manifestation of a lifelong dream, now fulfilled.   More importantly though, I want the book, “My Caribbean Grandma/Mi abuela Caribeña to contribute to the discuss allow readers to ask questions about things not understood or known, and engage them in research and conversations regarding race, ethnicity, culture, cultural responsiveness.  I also hope readers worldwide will further gain an understanding of the importance of being tolerant of multiculturalism.

Not a lucky Shot!  More to come.
