Though I have some understand of the reasons why someone might want to end their life, i.e. dysfunctional family life, pain, loss of relationship, etc. we must find other ways to live so that we don’t have to end our life in this unnatural way when life becomes unbearable.
The recent death of Prince had me thinking (and not for long) about whether or not he thought about his fans when he decided to abruptly end his life. When entertainers like Prince, Michael Jackson, Phyllis Hyman and others decide to abuse drugs or do whatever they do that would end their lives abruptly, I often wonder if they gave any thought to their fans left grieving sometimes for years? Did they think about the pain and disappointment fans would endure? When fans see people they admire end their lives abruptly, it does leave them empty. The fans are often left alone with no explanation about what happened, expected to grieve on their own, pick up the pieces, and move on with their lives. Fans do that well without the respect and acknowledgement they deserve.
