                 Halloween...
      A Multi-Cultural View

In the US, not everyone celebrates Halloween, one of the most enjoyable family activities.  If you are from a country that does not know anything about Halloween, the idea of celebrating this day in October can be jarring.  If you were born in the US, you don’t always understand why anyone would choose not to participate in Halloween celebrations.
For me Halloween is not a celebration to look forward to.  I am one of the immigrants who struggle with the idea of dressing up in gory, scary, costumes and then try to scare people.   I don’t yet understand the reason for wanting to give people heart attacks. I also wonder why I would want to open my door to people dressed in these scary costumes whose desire is to Trick me (which could be awful) or ask me for a Treat!

                                  🍂 Fall 🍂
Fall reminds me of New York City. It reminds me of the leaves changing colors then falling quietly to the ground.  It reminds me of the start of the school year and the long days ahead for doing homework and writing papers. Fall reminds me of the long, hot, humid, summer we hope is long gone, and the anticipation of the cool weather and Fall celebrations.  Halloween, Pumpkin Patches, Haunted Houses, Costume Balls.  Thanksgiving, Pumpkin Pies, Jack O- Lanterns, Roasted Turkey.  Fall feelings are everywhere.
